The 1858 Garnett House Gutter Project

Donation protected

We are a Historical Landmark in Garnett, Kansas which is in a state of renovation.

Our building was built in 1858 and is the town of Garnett's first hotel.

This building was the center of the underground railroad in the area and has a long storied history.

Our building has been a hotel, stagecoach stop, school, photography studio, private residence and a Doctor's office up until the 21st Century.

It has a found guest list from it's Bleeding Kansas and Wild West days, including Buffalo Bill Cody, Wild Bill Hickok, Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp and Belle Starr.

The building is currently 161 years old and is the oldest lat and plaster building in Anderson County.

We are attempting to raise funds for new gutters for the building with this campaign in order to keep the water from flooding into the cellar and destroying it.

Upon purchase of the building in 2016, most of the gutters were in a state of disrepair and in need of replacing.

We hope that you will help with this achievable project in order to save a piece of Kansas history from the slow creep of time.

We hope to get a lot of these projects completed so that the Hotel can eventually become a historic landmark and museum to the areas past.

Thank You for any help!
