Ramp It Up For Sam

In December 2019, my brother-in-law, Sam Provo, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His surgery, although successful, was followed by a series of major complications leaving him without the use of his right arm and leg and without the ability to communicate.  After almost two months in the hospital intensive care unit, and three weeks in acute physical rehab, Sam came home and is continuing to heal.  So, what's next?

THE GAME PLAN

If you know Sam, you know how strong and determined he is. All the cards and letters he has received has given him strength for the hard work ahead. Sam is cared for by my sister, Liz, and my nieces Jocelyn and Stephanie, and receives professional care (physical, occupational and speech therapy) several times a week in order to regain the use of his right arm and leg and his ability to communicate.   The brain is a miraculous organ and healing takes time. He is working very hard to walk again and to prepare for more surgery this summer.

IT TAKES A TEAM

In order to help Sam regain some ease of getting into and out of the house safely for appointments and care, he really needs a wheelchair ramp.

We are raising funds for the ramp building materials which are expected to cost about $5,000. Should this goal be exceeded, funds will go toward medical transportation cost ($500 - $1,500 per trip) and care not covered by insurance.

Volunteers, including many Agawam "Brownies" I hear, are organized and ready to build the ramp this month (June 2020). Friends, former teammates and classmates who are unable to be part of the ramp-raising can help by making this ramp a reality.

Can you help by making a small donation?  If so, you can easily donate by Credit Card or Debit Card.  If this is not possible, please contact me.

Sam and his family are overwhelmed with the amount of support they have received thus far and continue to be amazed by the care and compassion of friends and family during what is already a very unsettling time for many. Thank you for considering making a donation and being there to root Sam on, on his road to recovery!
