It is because of the discussions that we've been having for the last 10 episodes that have led us to the creation of this Go Fund Me campaign.
We would very much love to continue bringing you The People's Podcast as consistently as we possibly can but that is not currently possible on the current arrangements. When we started the podcast, it was just a fun way to talk nonsense between 2 friends about the things happening around then. With the growth of the podcast, came the growth of the responsibility.
We couldn't cut corners anymore, we couldn't be irresponsible with our words, we couldn't be responsible with the production, we couldn't pretend we didn't care, because you were listening. Naturally, we assumed that the growth of the podcast would be followed by growth in paid advertisement and related commercial work. We were wrong.
Yes, we've had people use the podcast to advertise their own products, but the cumulative monetary gain from those endeavours pales in comparison to what we've had to invest into the podcast. We can talk about the data, the fuel, the softwares, the favours we've had to ask, but nothing can replace the time we've put to producing these 100+ episodes, and this excludes episodes that you guys will probably never hear because we thought they were terrible.
A lot of time goes into us preparing for the episodes, curating what to talk about, the we sit down to record, then we edit, then the social media management. It's a lot of time.
We are incredibly indebted to everyone who has contributed to the podcast over the years. Your support has kept us going, and have been incredibly humbling.
With this support, Nick & I will guarantee that your beloved podcast won't end at a 100 episodes.
