Alford Family

As you know, Caleb Alford and his three sons (Senatobia, MS) were in a catastrophic car accident Saturday evening (6/6/20) on Highway 4. They were hit head-on. Caleb was airlifted to Regional 1 at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center (The Med) in Memphis, TN. The boys,  Bram-age 4, Cooper-age 6, and Bennett-age 8 were taken to LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Details of their extensive injuries have not been shared for both privacy and for the fact that they have been evolving over the last two days. Know that sharing these details is very difficult for their generally private family. They are now sharing what is currently known as they beg for your prayers.

Caleb--broken ribs, pneumothorax with chest-tube placement, broken wrist, broken femur, broken tibial plateau, crushed calcaneus. His vertebral column injuries include a burst fracture of C2, fractured C10, and a damaged vertebral artery.  He has had surgery to repair his femur and tibial plateau. His next surgery is scheduled for tomorrow to repair his wrist. The Neurology team is monitoring his damaged cerebral artery to rule in/rule out surgery in the coming days.

Bennett--broken ribs, bruised lungs, broken collarbone, multiple *deep* lacerations, cracked vertebrae

Cooper--broken ribs, bruised lungs, fractured pelvis, concussion

Bram--broken ribs, bruised lungs, torn diaphragm, punctured bowel, broken upper arm, fractured vertebrae. He has had surgery to repair bowel and diaphragm.

The boys had all been moved to the floor, and each child was allowed one adult. Initially, they were able to swap-in and swap-out the adults, but now are unable to do so. This afternoon, Bram's level of care was upgraded to critical, and he was moved to the ICU for deteriorating status. They are very, very scared.

They were not allowed to see Caleb until he got out of surgery late last night (Sunday, 6/7/20). His mother and father have seen him, and his father is staying with him at this time. Lakon cannot leave and re-enter LeBonheur due to Covid restrictions, so she cannot be with Caleb.

The family has had an outpouring of love that they could not have anticipated.  So many people are wanting to help and asking how to help. This family will need love and support for a long time, including financial support. Please consider donating to help defray the astronomical medical costs awaiting them on the other side of this. They absolutely covet your prayers. These Alford men have a long road ahead of them, and little Bram is so very sick.

We will update as the situation unfolds.

I am a friend of the family and live in the same community. I have set up this account on behalf of the family. All information posted is with their approval and consent. Caleb's wife, Lakon Alford, has been named the beneficiary of any funds collected here. She will be the only person authorized to withdraw funds. These funds will be used to cover any medical costs/hospital bills, etc.
