Sunday Surviving Cancer

You may remember my friend, Sunday Burquest, from Survivor: Millennials vs GenX, where she survived for 35 days on the island and played an incredible, unforgettable game! Sunday is a wife, mother of 4 and a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed 4 years prior to her Survivor debut. She beat breast cancer - like the Survivor that she is - and has shared her story of grit and faith with thousands of people through the years through her ministry, www.iamgritgirl.com.
Last week, Sunday found out that she now has another cancer battle to fight. She was diagnosed with esophageal and ovarian cancer. Her first instinct was: "I will survive cancer again!" Her fighting attitude and strong faith are incredibly inspiring and if you know her like I do, you know that she means every word!
As her friend, I am standing with her and beside her. One of the things I feel strongly about helping her with is her finances. Cancer is a very expensive disease to fight and and there are also the expenses of traveling to see specialists, to get the right care and of course, bills to pay. They do have insurance through a Christian share-type program, but I'm not sure how much that will actually end up covering and the costs for this will likely be astronomical. I am starting the fundraising at $250,000, but I know we will probably need to add to this at some point, as needs are expressed. Our goal is to help Sunday and her family in such a big way that they won't have the stress and worry of finances during this time! There is enough on their plate, and this is something we can all come along beside them to help them carry.

Her next doctor appointment is Monday, June 15, where we hope to know more about treatments, timing and have a better picture of what her next steps are.
