COVID-19 Support for our Salon
When January 2020 came, all of us were looking forward to having a great year where we could all get started on achieving our dreams with a new spirit and energy. I invested in remodeling our salon and add more stations. But little did we know the storm that was about to hit us because shortly after the upgrade, our business was forced to shut down causing us to lose 100% of our revenue with overhead costs that remain.
I am a passionate beautician/business owner. Using my skills and talents to help people look and feel good about themselves has always been my dream. For this reason, investing all that I had saved to purchase this salon was the perfect opportunity for me to do what I truly believed in. Several stylists in the salon have worked together for over 24 years. We are all dedicated to our art which is why the remodeling of the salon was a welcome step up in January of 2020. But the shutdown of business due to COVID-19 didn’t just put a stop on our practice for an unprecedented amount of time, it also took away our source of income. Currently, we are still obligated to pay for April, May, and June's rent and fighting for rent relief hasn’t been easy because the landlord is understandably tied in their own financial obligations. Most of our business's income comprises of booth rentals. However, I have chosen to not charge my stylists rent knowing that they are also in financial distress due to lack of work.
Much like every other small mom-and-pop, non-essential business out there, we are in a desperate situation and I know it in my heart that we will be able to make it to the other side of the pandemic with your support. Your generosity will help us pay our rent, thereby allowing us to keep our business which is our sole source of livelihood.
When all of this is over, we promise to give back to the community by using all donations that exceed our goal to provide services at no-costs to people affected by the pandemic. It will also be utilized in providing hair services and permanent makeup procedures to help with people who has financial hardships, and traumatic experiences that have left scars on their faces, and cancer survivors who have lost their hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes.
During this tough time of need, it is our support for each other and knowing that we’re all in this together, that keeps us going. We are thankful for your support and generosity and hope that better times are around the corner. #SmallBusinessRelief
