Start up costs for small black owned farm!

**I have updated the fundraiser amount with the start up costs related to the farm.** I'm positive I can reach this goal and start farming in 2020! Hello and thank you for being here! Many who know me will know why farming and food justice/sovereignty is important to me as a low income, black person in America. Access to food in poor communities is important. Access to land is an invaluable tool in beginning to address these issues. After taking part in Soul Fire Farm's BIPOC training, volunteering at various community farms, self-study, and the current affairs in this country, I'm ready to take an active role in moving towards solutions for myself and others. Unfortunately, my lack of inherited wealth/privilege limits me from doing that. After working a traumatizing 10 years in the restaurant industry, after covid, I'm now without a job and unable to secure loans for the project. ●●● About the project: I'm starting a small farm business on an acre of land in New Mexico. The farm would be a dry/ rainfed farm, meaning NO irrigation systems(besides grey water irrigation for trees and non edible plants). I also intend to utilize and experiment with water conservation and "permaculture" methods from Burkina Faso, the Hopi Natives, and the Pueblo Natives to grow crops with promising yeild. ●●● The goal is to be a low/zero waste farm, provide organic produce to the local and surrounding communities, with emphasis on providing access to low income families. There is also a plan to build a small house on the land. I intend to provide eggs, honey, a rotating variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, within CSA shares, farmer's markets, and eventually some wholesale to local small business. ●●● In addition to running a business, I would like to host small groups of individuals, with priority given to POC, to come learn, and get assistance with their own food projects and farm business if they wish to follow a similar model. I plan to allocate a portion of profits to invest in other farm/food projects for BIPOC farmers, and to keep the CSA affordable for those who need assistance with payments. Ultimate Goal? *To share knowledge with the people so we all can grow and eat good food. *To pass on the blessing in every way I can, as soon as I can. Helping others succeed in their own projects *To live a life where success isn't contingent on huge profit. *Build a mini farm business with principles that I align with.  *Provide free education and shelter for people interested in visiting and learning this type of farming model. This fundraiser will help with securing the land, purchasing tools needed to work the land, and the supplies for building a tiny shelter for myself and my chickens!
