The BBU is raising funds for a headquarters and community space.
Our work covers broad and extremely important yet complex areas such state sanctioned violence, the various aspects of police violence, the prison industrial complex and the multiple layers effected by these.
The BBU headquarters was displaced from our Downtown Riverside location due to discrimination and biases toward our principles and practices. We need to obtain a long term and/or permanent space to remain independent and free from discriminatory practices often faced in this line of work. This will ensure we stay local and engaged in our community. We want to hire part-time & full-time staff to provide relief around the clock, as all volunteer organizers have worked part-time and some full-time for the past 5 years. Also, legal expenses add up quickly when supporting families and communities.
The Inland Empire is a vast area that needs continued support and resource hubs to ensure this fight isn't just a moment but a movement and the infrastructure is strong, independent & present.
Funds will also be provided for relief support for rallies, educational trainings, bail, safety kits and necessary items needed for protest demonstrations to organizers around the Inland Empire that are demonstrating and protesting in solidarity against state sanctioned violence.
Whether we reach our goal or not, anything helps; but, this work will continue!
