Feed Black Futures

During this time of national mobilization for Black lives and a global pandemic that has impacted Black communities the hardest, Black people are entitled to real reinvestment that honors their health and wellness.

We are raising money to provide 30 Black families, directly impacted by the carceral system in the LA area, with fresh and organic produce for at least the next 5 months (until supplies last). Providing local nutritious fruits and vegetables, assists in the healing and nurturing that these families deserve. This food will provide direct assistance to families and will create space for intergenerational healing.

Sharing food can be an expression of love that deepens connections. For mamas and caregivers (including trans, cis, and gender nonconforming folx) who have experienced the trauma of family separation, this service will provide an opportunity to bring nourishment to themselves and their loved ones.

As a doula, abolitionist, farmer, and public health professional, I believe that we must divest from state sanctioned violence and invest in nurturing the health and wellness of our people. In partnership with Essie Justice, a nonprofit California based organization of women and femmes with incarcerated loved ones taking on injustices created by mass incarceration, I will be providing produce for families as long as supplies last.

Organic produce will be purchased weekly from Black and brown-owned farms in San Bernardino and LA Counties including Huerta del Valle farm in Ontario, California.

The funds will go to:
1. purchasing  weekly organic produce boxes ranging from $23 to $55 each for for the 30 families, and
2. paying the mamas and caregivers in Essie's network for the gas money that is spent delivering food boxes to families in the Inland Empire and Los Angeles
