Blactina Film Fund for Afrolatinx Film x TV

Donation protected
Funds will go towards the Blactina Film slate which includes feature films, tv shows and digital media projects. My name is Nydia Simone and I am the founder of Blactina Media. My focus with Blactina for the past three years has been amplifying Afrolatinx/Caribbean voices through digital media storytelling and film however lack of funds has really affected the output of my film projects. Yet, my work has still be featured in the New York Times, Vice, Forbes, Oprah's Online magazine and I've amassed an international following. The thirst for authentic Black Latinx and Caribbean stories is real and Im tired of waiting to green-light my projects so I decided to ask the community to green-light them. Funds will be used for the production of the following projects:

Zion - (feature film) - A racist trust fund baby is supernaturally transported to an alternate universe where white people are the opressed minority. Comedic

Sisterhood of the Traveling Latinas - (feature film) - Four NY Latinas go to a Caribbean island for spring break and hilarity ensues when one of them is accidently kidnapped and they scour the island to find her. Comedic

Blactina -Blactina(Half hr comedy) -Three Afrolatinas explore love, career and identity in NYC. Afrolatina Girlfriends meets Living Single.

Brujas en Brooklyn -  (Hour long drama) - Two opposing sisters call upon their three estranged magical aunts when the city threatens to take their family property by eminent domain. Charmed meets Eve's Bayou. Dramedy

The Samana Project - (feature documentary) - In 1824 a group of formerly enslaved African Americans sailed from Philadelphia to what is now known as the Dominican Republic. In this documentary we'll get a deep dive into the history and culture of the Samana Americans and a look into Dominican history you don't hear too much about.

The support is needed because the Afrolatinx people are ignored by the larger Latino Media companies as well as by the non-Latino Black communities. Many people are not aware that there are Black people in Latin America and most people aren't aware of Latin Americas Black Freedom fighters who have been trying to change the narrative. Black Art is freedom. Please support and share to your networks far and wide.

Also check out the Blactina website  and Instagram  and Facebook pages here.

Also white republicans hate me because of this interview i did with Vice. lol.
Although alot of my past work has taken place in the United States, Im passionate about filming in Latin America and the Caribbean as well and breaking down those cultural barriers.

Here is a series I created titled "In This Life". I produced this show in Los Angeles for less than $500. Have a laugh.
