The link above is our first episode. Please watch and help us shoot two more episodes by donating to this gofundme.

Synopsis:
Dayroom is a web series that captures the “healing” moments between two roommates; A sex worker named Luna and a theater artist named Niki. Each episode is centered around the time of day in which these two women come together on their couch and exist without the hyper visibility that being a black woman comes with. We watch as Niki loses her survival job and struggles with what it means to be an artist in New York. We watch as Luna uses weed as a way to cop with her agoraphobia and sex work via being a cam girl as a way to pay rent. We witness how these two black women share the most honest parts of their day in a space that is curated just for them.

We are rising money to shoot the rest of this series.

Here is where your funds will be going:

Equipment rental  (lights, Cameras, sound equipment etc.) ~ $1000

Craft services (Food and drink while on set. This will be spread out to for all the shooting dates) ~ $500

Costumes/props (clothes, set pieces, hair and makeup needs) ~ $1000

Transportation. ( We shoot in the Bronx and need to be able to transport our team members and equipment in a timely manner) ~ $500

Music ( We are only using music from black fem artist at various points in their careers) ~ $500

A bit more about the Series:

Luna is Played by Thalia Sablon:

She creates art that showcases black bodies being radically happy, unfazed, and unpredictable.

Niki is Played by Bree Person:
Bree is a Visual Artist who strives to create an interactive environment to showcase individual’s unique talents. She holds an Associate’s degree in Art from Laguardia community college and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Media Studies from SUNY Purchase She uses skills obtained from her disciplines to identify the ways in which we present our arts in social media and experiences through real life. Bree also is the set designer of the series.

Dayroom, although a physically curated space for our main characters Niki and Luna, is also a hypothetical curation of space for women who identity with the underlying themes in the show; Intersection of being black, identifying as a woman, and struggling young professionals in the art world. While simultaneously humanizing those who use sex work as a means to make money, and those who roll blunts to ease anxiety.
