We can not stop helping people! #covid19 #bali
As Westerlaken foundation we are handing out emergency food packages since April 14, 2020 on Bali. We do hand outs in cooperation with local government and Dinas Sosial (social service) in Peguyangan, Bitera, Penatih and at designated individual addresses.
1 pack consists of rice, noodles, eggs, veggies and seasoning and a family of 4 can eat 4 x 4 meals out of the package. Till today (13 June 2020) we have handed out 27.236 meals. These meals make a huge difference. We measure impact every fourth handout with an impact assessment and see directly how people in these difficult times are helped.
Many people work in hospitality in the vibrant south of Bali and have lost their jobs. Recent research pointed out that the income of people working in hospitality and tourism is reduced with 78%. In the Balinese kinship system people contribute to, and live together with, the whole family. Bali is highly depending on tourism and no tourist is able to arrive due to COVID-19.
Our funding is drying out. We do not know till when this pandemic will continue to hit the island, but we know one thing. We can not stop helping.
We need 5.000 euro to keep continuing our program and help 200+ families every week. 1 emergency aid pack only costs 3 euro. Please help us helping them...
