HELP MALDIVIAN FAMILIES COVID19 - INDULGE MALDIVES

Hi Everyone,

I'm Kristie the Owner of Indulge Maldives. I am reaching out to our Indulge Maldives community & encouraging you to help support Maldivian families who desperately need financial help at this time of crisis. Maldives is a country that relies 85% on tourism, which has been drastically impacted since late March 2020, due to COVID-19.

A State of Public Health Emergency was declared on March 12, 2020, by the Director General of Public Health. With only a handful of COVID-19 cases (mostly foreigners at resorts & Maldivians returning from overseas) Maldives took pre-cautions early to prevent the spread. The country's boarders closed on March 27th 2020. It wasn't until the 15th of April that a community outbreak of COVID-19 became prevalent in Malé, the capital city. Due to the high density  population in Malé (140,000 pax) on an island 6.8kmsq, lockdown has been ongoing for over 3 months in attempt to contain the spread of COVID19.  During this time, many families have not seen daylight, been outside or even left their tiny apartments. Many local families have been forced out of work & have not had an income for over 3 months throughout the strict lockdown. All families on local islands have not been able to travel to Malé the capital city for basic supplies & are reliant on their island's supply boats which have been on a reduced schedule. Maldivian people all across the country are struggling to pay for basic essentials such as food, rent, medical needs, electricity, phone & internet bills. There has been almost 2,000 cases & 8 deaths in Maldives at present. 

I encourage you to dig deep & give back to the people of Maldives who give our community so much. Many of our guests experience the warm kindness & generosity of the Maldivian people - now the beautiful people of Maldives need us more than ever. It would mean so much to myself & our Indulge Maldives community if we can give back to a country that gives so much to us, & support Maldivian people in this time of unforeseen crisis. 

Funds raised will be distributed to Maldivian families. The donations will be used to make food packs for Maldivian families & to pay outstanding bills - rent, electricity, medical, phone, internet & TV.

To help guide your donation amounts: 
AUD$10 - feed a family for a day
AUD$50 feed a small family for a week
AUD$100-$150 feed a large family for a week
Any other amounts however big or small very much welcomed & greatly appreciated. Every bit helps!

I will be working with volunteers & local councils to deliver care packs & distribute funds to families across Maldives. There are over 200 local islands in Maldives & the country has a population of almost 515, 700. I am looking to raise & deliver the funds to Maldives families ASAP as many families are currently experiencing ongoing financial hardship & stress.
