Pooches Out Of Puerto Rico

Donation protected

We first met Chance at the shelter shortly after the devastating earthquakes in Puerto Rico this January.

He was one of hundreds, likely thousands, of abandoned dogs left by owners who could no longer care for, or take with them when leaving for safety.

Scared and locked in a cell ‘Chance’ grew more distant and depressed.

After starting Pooches Out Of Puerto Rico in February to try and help rescue dogs off the island and organize to bring them stateside to adoptive homes, we tried desperately to find Chance a home. He was not a cute puppy anymore and being a larger dog required cargo transport to get off the island.

We kept hoping to find him a home, but there were no takers.

Then Covid hit us all. The ramifications again came down hard on those who cannot speak for themselves. Shelters were overloaded with animals and being non essential were ‘shut down’ all for a once a day visit to give food and water by one employee...

Needless to say many dogs perished due to a variety of reasons, those that did come out of it were frail bone thin and listless. Large groups were then euthanized.

We went down after flights were cleared. Chance, Isabelle and Dory were still there..and happy to say we were able to rescue all … and as of summer 2022 over 400 other Satos.

Along with my sister we started Pooches Out Of Puerto Rico in February of 2020 to help unite families with dogs who would otherwise have no hope.

We are not a funded group, or a big wig rescue..we are just people who care and are willing to dedicate our time and funds to help these dogs.

And while we work with people who are still looking for small dogs and adopting small dogs ...we ask that you consider helping us to save some of the ones who without us will perish.

Your donation will go directly to supporting the rescue of the many Satos we continuously work to help bring stateside and get adopted into loving homes.

Vet costs, vaccinations, sterilization, preventatives like flea tick and heartworm ongoing, food, boarding fees (until we get them here!) and equipment costs (like collars, leashes, airline approved crates, water & food dishes...and hopefully treats;-)

We know their are many dogs to save and many rescues to support. When you look into these dogs eyes you want to save every one of them.

We thank you, the dogs thank you and the eventual adoptive families thank you for helping to bring hope back.
