Help My Dad, Felipe Fight Cancer

Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Cristina. I am creating this fundraiser with my brother, Filly, for our father who was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer. We are hoping this fundraiser can help us with healthcare costs we’ve endured for the past year caring for my father and continue to endure as we continue to support my father and my family.

Growing up I have always remembered my dad as a free spirit, always looking for adventure and taking us to new places. My dad was a company cab driver for part of his life and enjoyed the flexibility, opportunities to travel and meet new people.

After a couple of years, with the help of my mom who works in Elmhurst Hospital as a Patient Care Associate (PCA), my dad got a job as a PCA in Elmhurst Hospital. While working, my dad enjoyed helping people and meeting new people. He was well-known by patients and coworkers as kind and uplifting. This developed a desire in my father’s heart to help people through natural medicine. He would share his knowledge about natural remedies that have been used in our family for a long time. My dad even saved even my life as a baby using these remedies. He worked as a PCA for 23 years and intended to continue working but is now forced to retire due to being diagnosed with cancer.

At 69 years of age, my father was diagnosed on May 27, 2020 with an aggressive form of bladder cancer. After a year of attempting to resolve this issue using natural remedies, my father is now faced with making a serious decision to fight cancer that may require surgery to remove his bladder, undergo chemotherapy and radiation. Without guarantee of the treatments removing the cancer completely, it is a difficult decision to make as a senior when these kinds of treatments are life threatening and debilitating.

During the span of a month, we have made multiple emergency hospital visits, leaving my dad at the hospital. Due to COVID-19, we have had to leave my dad without being able to see him and put all of our trust in hospital staff. As a family we have taken serious precautions with preventing COVID-19 exposure. Thankfully we have been successful.

Recently we were able to get my dad into Memorial Sloan Kettering in the hopes of cancer focused care specific to my father’s condition. During this time, our focus has been working on getting a Home Attendant/Home Health Aid to help with preparing meals, do light cleaning at home, and accompanying my father to walks and appointments. Unfortunately we have not been able to get these services long term. Until then my brother and I took off from work to care for my father until we are able to get the support we need. This is income that is lost to support not only my father but the family and home.

Before we decided on creating this fundraiser, we have worked with our extended family to support financially and tapped into our own funds to pay for necessities. We reached out to senior service organizations to get meals and get food delivered home. Due to a year of financially supporting alternative medicine, travel, meals and other necessities for my father, we realized that we do not have enough to pay our medical financial obligations and support living in our home for too long. We knew then that we had to create a Go Fund Me to get help from others.

With these donations we plan to pay for medical financial obligations that we have incurred for a year of natural remedies (IV Infusion Therapy, Chinese Cancer Remedies, Herbal and Homeopathic Remedies and Nutritional Remedies), medical bills and copays from medical and emergency visits, medical travel expenses, prescribed, over the counter and natural medicine, food, rent, and utilities (Electricity, gas, phone, Wi-Fi). These are our necessities to continue to take proper care of my father and having a stable home with healthy meals to eat.

We also are working on creating vlogs and videos on updates and share some natural remedies that my father always enjoyed sharing with anyone who needed help. We’re also reaching out to artists who are interested in donating and help us reach our goal. My brother is also promoting music production services where all proceeds will go to caring for my father.

We encourage support in other ways like prayer, spiritual support, and sharing our GoFundMe page to anyone you know.

We are grateful for any contribution made. We are a family of essential workers and understand the sacrifices  made to help us during this time where we are all in need.

Thank you from deep in our spirit, soul and heart. We are thankful.
