Let's help Peter Brock fight cancer

I am raising money to help my brother Peter Brock fight the fight against cancer.
Roughly two months ago Peter was diagnosed with malignant melanoma that had spread through parts of his body. In an attempt to locate all affected areas, they put Peter through countless tests, scans and more of the same. During a PET scan they located cancer in his nasal cavity. This cancer, squamous cell carcinoma of the nasopharyngeal is thought to be unrelated to the melanoma. The melanoma had spread into his lymph nodes. After more tests, meetings and consultations, it was determined that the best course of action was to remove the tumor in his lymph. The removal operation was completed on Tuesday June 16.
Because the combination of cancers is so rare, the team of oncologists, surgeons and neurologists have decided the best course of action now is for Peter to undergo additional exams and tests at Albany Med. The team has recommended a series of very expensive and highly toxic treatments. These will include radiation, chemo-therapy, and immunotherapy. All of which will cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Peter and his wife Lisa have some insurance to help pay for some of it. 20% will be left up to them to pay. While they have some savings for retirement, which they will use, it will not come close to covering it all.
That is where we come in. During this epic fight, I want to provide as much comfort to Peter as I can. He is going to be very sick throughout chemo and radiation. Their home is in need of a cooling system and those medical bills just keep adding up.
Peter is an amazing man. He raises money each year for operation Santa Claus. He hosts dinners at his small diner on Dix Ave in Glens Falls and asks for donations every single day; last year he helped raise $ 61,500. Peter donates every cent to put coats, hats and mittens on thousands of area children.
He and Lisa are constantly donating their time and money to anyone in need. During these past few months, even knowing that he had cancer, Peter showed the community his strength and commitment by feeding hundreds of essential workers in the area. He fed firemen, police and hospital workers. He helped organize the drive-by to show support for the hospital workers. All along knowing in his heart that he had multiple forms of cancer. They have three grown children that are following in dad's footsteps. They need our help.
When I told Peter that I wanted to reach out to people for help, he wept. "I never wanted to ever ask anyone for help. I want to help others, not have others help me," he said through tears. He is not asking; I am. I am asking for your help.
His needs are very simple. He needs to not have to worry about how to pay the medical bills. He needs to recover from cancer treatment in as little stress as possible. A cool home instead of a hot one. Peace of mind that many people care.
His demand to me was that if I raised money through donations they can only be used for his medical bills, his cooling system and whatever is left goes to operation Santa Claus. The world needs more people like Peter. The area needs Peter because he gives so much back. He keeps kids warm in the winter, feeds those in need and never says no to a good cause. I need Peter because he is not only my brother but my best friend.
