Help Paul (anc1ent1) tell cancer to go f*** itself

Donation protected

Our friend, Paul (known as anc1ent1 in the E&P community), was recently diagnosed with liver cancer.

He and his family are trying to hold on without any help, but we love him and want to help him in this small way. He refuses to ask for help, but we’ve convinced him to allow us to give some.

Most immediately, his diagnosing and testing requires that he make frequent 75 mile (125 kilometer) trips from his home in Wisconsin to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and pay for a hotel for up to a week at a time.

The cost of those trips are adding up, and he hasn’t even started determining what his costs will be as they decide on the correct treatment.

We, his friends, would like to raise $5,000 for him to help offset his mounting bills, but, most of all, to help alleviate just a small part of his worry.

Please help.

From Paul (anc1ient1) himself,  sharing his diagnosis with E&P friends on the public forum:

Hello my community friends.

I was reluctant to create this post but then I realized that would be the exact opposite of who I am.

A couple of days ago I got one of those life-changing calls, you know the kind that you hope you never get.

Sparing all the details to keep this short I was called by a doctor after some various testing and informed that I have cancer.

Did not see that coming at all, in other words it was totally unexpected.

I just wanted to let everybody know that with the mountain that is ahead of me that I will climb to the best of my ability that my frequency here well most likely taper off as I will be involved with the obvious rigors of fighting a different kind of battle.

Just want to thank everybody here for all the time that we have spent together and the cyber camaraderie that has made me laugh, made me think, and generally brightened many of my days.

I would like to think that I am a friend to many of you even though I have never met you.

I have never really been associated with an online forum and I am glad that this one is the one I stumbled into.

So in closing I will think of all of you often and wish the best for each and everyone of you in life and of course in this crazy game.

I am going to try to stay in my alliance as long as I don’t drag them down and if the opportunity arises contribute when I can.

Love life, cherish family and friends, and make the best of every moment because at the end of the day that’s all we have.

With that being said I’m going to do something unusual for this forum and share some photo’s to let you all know that I have had a good life and lived life to the fullest. A face to go with the name.

Hope that’s not to weird but I think it makes all this a little more personal and I’ve always worn my heart on my sleeve so why change now!!!

Thanks everybody for the encouragement, Thoughts and prayers.

Maybe I am a dreamer but I still would like to believe that someday I would have the good fortune to meet some of you. In the meantime I’ll just leave you with the fact that you have all touched my heart in a special way.
