COVID-19 Antibody Test Kit for NYS Health Workers

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Fellow New Yorkers,

Nearly half of all COVID-19 cases in the U.S. are in New York state alone, and the number of confirmed cases continues to increase at an alarming rate.

My name is Jena Min, founder of a New York-based consumer health & wellness company that markets at-home DNA test kits for personalized skincare products. Currently, there is a widespread COVID-19 test-kit shortage that is hindering health officials' ability to get a clear sense of how many Americans have been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Coronavirus (COVID-19). To assist in New York's relief efforts, we are reaching out to our supply chain to source testing kits for New York healthcare workers.

What is the COVID-19 IgG / IgM Antibody Detection Test?

It is a rapid screening finger-prick test to detect the presence of the COVID-19 IgG / IgM antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 virus. It delivers a result in 15 minutes and is 98% accurate.

Why are these tests important?

According to an Op-Ed in the NY Times, epidemiologist Dr. Larry Brilliant recommends widespread testing to determine who has recovered from the disease and is now immune. Testing for antibodies is therefore a crucial part of the public health strategy and its impact could be enormous. A test that produces results within 15 minutes would enable healthcare workers who have already had the virus and are immune, to safely return to the front lines to care for patients.

Who gets a test?

All front line healthcare workers who have direct contact with patients will receive priority. For consumers who suspect they have been exposed to the virus and would like to purchase a test, it is available for pre-order with an expected delivery in the end of April.

Where are the test-kits manufactured?

To meet the heavy demand for COVID-19 test kits, we have partnered with several South Korean manufacturers that have developed the proprietary technology to identify multiple disease biomarkers for in vitro diagnostics. All test-kits have undergone clinical trials in South Korea.

Why South Korea?

South Korea has tested more people per capita than any other country in the world. This early testing strategy has been central to the outbreak response. Early detection means minimizing further spread, which gives healthcare workers a chance to quickly isolate and treat infected patients. This strategy seems to be working in South Korea where there has been a recent decline in new coronavirus cases.

How will the funds be used?

100% of proceeds (except GoFundMe fees) will be used to purchase the opening order of test kits. Please help protect our healthcare workers on the front line so that they can continue to protect us and our loved ones. Any small amount (even $5-10) will be greatly appreciated!
