Relief for Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture

Since November 2013, Seminole Heights Community Acupuncture has supported people of the Tampa Bay area in finding peace, pain relief, stress relief, and community; and building immunity, resilience, and self-understanding.  Acupuncture and herbal medicine at SHCA have changed lives.

On March 20, 2020, due to the spread of COVID-19 throughout the US and world, Governor DeSantis ordered non-emergency healthcare to cease operations so that medical supplies could be preserved for use by the hospital medical staff that are risking their lives to save others.  So the clinic is not able to treat the 180+ patients per week that sustains them and us.  The order extends until May 8 at minimum.

Our furloughed staff have been waiting weeks to receive their first unemployment payments. Gururas and NJ work daily (without pay) providing telehealth sessions and products. But this does not meet the reality of our rent and bills of $5000 minimum per month. Our basic monthly expenses do not cease, and so we are asking for your help so we can continue to provide the care our community needs now and as the virus moves among us. 

It has always been our pleasure to be here for you at SHCA, to greet you and treat you and support you.  We miss you so much!

We are a safe space for so many people, a place where acupuncture is accessible to folks who have never tried it or had given up because of the high price of private acupuncture. People have had experiences here that have soothed them, provided respite from pain and anxiety and stress, and supported them in finding new approaches to self-care.

Of course, we're applying for loans and hope to receive some that are forgivable.  To provide the affordable, accessible care that we do, we run on a very tight budget.  We love what we do and we rely on social capital and sustainability to keep our doors open.  We're committed to our low fee sliding scale so that our patients can get the acupuncture and Chinese medicine they need.  Especially now!  Continuing with our business model means we cannot carry a lot of debt.
