COVID RELIEF 4 VULNERABLE NIGERIAN FAMILIES

Millions of vulnerable and disadvantaged families throughout Nigeria and indeed in the rest of Africa are enduring hunger, stress, panic due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Most of these families work in menial jobs or small businesses which pay them barely enough to live on from week to week. As in in other developing countries, many Nigerians live a hand-to-mouth existence and cannot stock up on food or other essentials to protect them from disasters like Covid-19. Although the lockdown is lifted, many vulnerable Nigerians are still exposed to further risk and hardship.
The chaos that follows the resulting distress and hunger is immensely worrying; and undoubtedly increases infection rates of the Covid-19 virus on the vast majority of people living in slum conditions. The current situation and the prospects for poorer people in Nigeria due this pandemic is alarming.
I am a Nigerian Irish living and working in Ireland for the past 20 Years. I am the director of an NGO Culture Connect which works to promote and support the integration of new communities into Irish society.
Our organisation proposal is to use the money raised through this appeal to provide some essential relief and protection measures to needy families. These include food, hand sanitizers, and masks for about 2,000 families living in slum areas in Lagos. We have established a strong network of charity organisations, churches and families in Nigeria who are helping to implement this project and ensure that resources are delivered as fairly and effectively as possible with no administrative cost.
In the spirit of global humanity, please stand in solidarity with us to save at least one family at this challenging time. We have already supported up to 240 families and hope to achieve the above target through your support.
