As 2020 enters the fall season, the Spoken Black Girl Team is dreaming up new ways to create powerful content that informs and uplifts! We are ready to champion our favorite causes with renewed vigor! Every donation goes to supporting Mental Health & Wellness Awareness and new opportunities for Black women writers!

As the pandemic goes on and our world continues to be in a state of flux and unrest, let's continue to support Black creatives whose artwork uplifts and inspires us all!

New Content

Spoken Black Girl 3: Diaspora is on its way! Thank you so much to everyone who supported Issue 2:Resilience! The magazine was met with a stunning reception and so much love. Now it's time to do it again! Issue 3: Diaspora will dig into the multitude of experiences, cultures, and customs taking place across the Black diaspora. It will be a love note to Black culture across seas and history. These stories will empower & inspire!

Donations will go to paying writers, visual artists, and creatives who contribute to SBG.

Technology Upgrades

Due to age and damage, Spoken Black Girl is currently being run on computers that are breaking down by the day. As a result, the process of producing and publishing new content as well as taking care of everyday business processes has been slowed significantly. With your help, we can upgrade our machines and create better quality content.

Bigger and Better Publishing Projects!

We are expanding into publishing books! As promised, Spoken Black Girl is rapidly preparing to publish novels, poetry books, self-help books, and more! We're even creating new programs to help Black women writers publish their work.

What's the Plan?

Purchasing 500 ISBN numbers to publish brand new diverse books!

Launching the SBG Writers Room, which will guide writers through the editing and publishing process so that they save money while also producing professional-grade books!

Donations will pay for the cost of editing and design to bring these beautiful creations to life!

Women of Color Writer Fund

Last go around, we were able to provide (2) $250 grants to women of color writers in need! Let's do it again! This is a difficult time for many creatives who might be struggling to make ends meet in the midst of this pandemic. Community care is the best care.

The Well Space Podcast

Finally, Spoken Black Girl has a podcast! Founder. Rowana Abbensetts and Managing Editor, Latoya Sinclair will be joined by experts in all fields of holistic health and wellness. Our aim is to bring the best of the wellness world to our audience so you can up your self-care game from the comfort of your couch :) All while spotlighting women of color wellness practitioners who are out in their communities making a difference every day!

Keep SBG Going Strong!

Grateful is not a big enough word to express how we feel about our supportive community. It's truly a grassroots movement to squash mental health stigma and uplift marginalized voices. With your continued support, we can make big things happen!
