Update & Urgent Need: $15,000 additional needed immediately!

Over the past several days, there was a dramatic and unexpected shift in Larry's condition. Friday night, November 6, 2020 at 10:50 pm he peacefully and courageously transcended into our Lord and Saviors arms. He was surrounded by his loving family.

The family has an urgent need to raise an additional $15,000 to cover the cost of funeral and memorial services this week! Our goal has been increased to $30,000 as almost all of the funds raised to this point have been used for a special trip, helped us to cover daily and medical expenses, provided groceries and meals, etc. and almost none for the funeral services.

Thank you so much for being here with us and for journeying alongside us throughout the past 2 years. We are so immensely grateful for your outpouring of love and support. You have truly been a stronghold for us.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7

Original Story:

Erica and Larry Largent are dear friends of ours (Brad and Shallon Gray) whom we met while we studied in Jerusalem. We developed a strong bond with them during our time in Israel which has only continued to grow over the past 12 years that we've lived apart in the U.S.  Erica is an amazing nurse, Larry has multiple degrees and has a passion for Biblical archaeology, and they have three beautiful daughters Lylah (13), Maura (10), and Alyse (8). We consider them among some of our closest friends.

About two and a half years ago, Larry began to show signs of some sort of illness affecting both his mental and physical well being. After months of misdiagnosis and multiple visits to various medical facilities they finally found the correct diagnosis. Sadly, in November 2018  Larry was diagnosed with early onset frontotemporal dementia (at the age of 34). This form of dementia has no treatment or cure. His illness has been a great hardship for Erica and Larry and puts tremendous pressure on them and their young family of three children.

Due to the nature of this illness, his mental capacities are declining rapidly. He is unable to work, stay home alone, or parent his children, just to name a few challenges the family is facing, Although he still is coherent of some of what's happening, he is unable to sympathize with or fully comprehend what this illness means for him and his family. The family does not know how much time they have with Larry but they want to make the most of it.

Last December (2018) we launched this campaign to send Erica and Larry, along with their three children, as well as Larry's mom to Disneyworld and Universal Studios. The response was overwhelming and the family, including Larry's sister and her husband and two children, were all able to spend an amazing week together this past January 2019 (and even escaped the Minnesota polar vortex for a week!). Erica is focused on building memories with the remaining time and this was definitely an experience that will not soon be forgotten.

Erica has had to cut way back on her hours at work due to the demanding nature of care required for Larry. Therefore we'd like to continue to raise $15,000 to cover expenses, including but not limited to, medical bills, groceries, clothing, and utilities.

Thanks so much for supporting the Largent's! God has used and will continue to use their family in big ways.

I've also attached a video of Larry sharing his testimony just two years ago at the church where he worked on staff.
