Welcome to the Lending Library Funding Page
Mid 2020, we put a call out for people to donate second hand books with race in mind. We publicized a list of these donated books online and asked people to suggest additional books that would be good to have alongside the donations.We then priced up the list of books (about 60 of them) and set up this go fund me to get 500 pounds to buy them. The fundraiser reached its goal late October and we were able to start the library!

The Library is housed at a venue called Wharf Chambers in Leeds, people are able to come and borrow just by leaving their name and phone number. While this will be completely free to use and borrow, we have left this funding page open for people to continue to donate where possible/if they are in a position to. The money raised from further donations will be used to extend and update the collection, to buy multiple copies of popular books, and to ensure that the Lending Library can grow as we grow.
We are hoping that this is just the start of a project; and would like this to be a community resource, for people to get involved and take ownership of it, to tell others about it, and to actively seek to learn and unlearn issues surrounding race and identity.
