Wildlife Aid- Help Aussie Wildlife

Donation protected
Wildlife Aid is a small organization in the Upper Hunter Valley, run and manned completely by a team of dedicated volunteers who assist Australia's native fauna in between their jobs, families and personal lives. Every year we receive thousands of calls to assist injured, orphaned, sick or displaced native animals.

If you would like to assist we are asking for funds to help with veterinary costs and the purchase of food, equipment and other necessary supplies for rehabilitating our wildlife.

Wildlife Aid rescues and cares for a vast array of fauna including birds, macropods, possums, wombats, flying foxes, microbats, smaller mammals like antechinus, lizards, snakes, turtles and the odd echidna.

Currently our region is dealing with a long and drawn out drought which is effecting our beautiful wildlife. The lack of food available is resulting in many animals entering unsafe areas like roads, leading to motor vehicle accidents which often kills or maims birds, lizards and turtles and leaves many mammals and marsupials as orphans.

Every year Wildlife Aid receives hundreds of calls for injured or displaced birds, recently many of these have come into our care very underweight as a direct result of the current drought conditions, as our area simply does not have enough food to support them.

The extreme heat is also a major problem; especially for Singleton's large flying fox colony. When the thermometer reaches above 40degrees Celsius it causes our beautiful flying foxes extreme distress. Every summer hundreds of the adults and their young fall from the trees dead and dying. The pups (babies) that are taken into care are vital for the survival of the species and in turn to regenerate our native bushland.

Wildlife Aid relies predominantly on donations to keep our volunteers from having to pay full price for food and vet fees for the animals they are rescuing and caring for. Our members would appreciate enormously any donation, no matter how small, to assist in continuing the survival of the fauna in the Upper Hunter Valley area of New South Wales.

If you live in the Upper Hunter Valley and would like to become a member of Wildlife Aid please proceed to our website, wildlifeaid.org.au/join-us fill out the membership application and forward it onto the committee at [email redacted].au We are always looking for new volunteers to assist our group!

Please note Wildlife Aid is not a tax deductible charity.
