My dearest friends, friends of friends, and distinguished guests-
I have gathered you all here today to ask for your support and mutual aid. I am a Black Trans-masculine person and, after years of wishing for it, I am finally taking steps towards having my outer appearance match my identity.
But I can't do it alone.
This fundraiser is to raise money for top surgery and continue HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). As you may or may not know, gender affirming surgery and treatment are incredibly expensive. And, unfortunately, my insurance won't cover any of the cost. So I'm turning to you, my community, for help.
Along with surgery and hormone treatments, I am in need of funds to pay for the last few months' of rent as well as a safe vehicle. I lost my job in March due to covid-19, and have been struggling financially. I have a family who wants to hire me as their nanny, my longtime job that I love dearly, but they are requiring that I have a safe car to transport myself and the kids in order to start working.
I'm so thrilled to take this enormous step toward being my truest self; I can hardly put into words just what it means to me, and what it means to be able to share this life-changing experience with all of you.
