URGENT: Housing Fund for Indigenous Youth

Donation protected

Members of Climate Justice Toronto have been working with queer indigenous youth to find housing if they are housing insecure. This weekend we will be placing one youth into housing, but found out there are some complications preventing their eligibility from Ontario Works which severely affects our ability to guarantee their housing stability.

As such, we have created an emergency housing fund to keep them housed and
not go back to an abusive situation.

Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people are at high risk of going missing or worse and this is especially acutely felt for houseless indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit. This youth is a transgender/2S girl under the age of 18 and at high risk without a place to stay. Thus this fund will seek to cover 10 continuous months of rent and utilities at $700/month. If our goal is exceeded the first $3000 will go to an expense fund and additional months rent for this youth and if we reach over $10,000 it will be redistributed to other lgbtq+ indigenous youth in need
