Hi, I’m Jason - my lovely students know me as Mr. Gillman. Some of my students and their families, however, as well as those across the country find themselves in an unprecedented situation: Digital Poverty. COVID meant that many lessons went online, highlighting the dire need for laptops and technology for those on the poverty line. Not being able to access lessons online due to the lack of hardware or even an internet connection itself in the 21st century is just unacceptable.
As the education system tries to jump start, more and more students will inevitably have to self-isolate and therefore require technology and internet access at home once more. This fundraiser page is dedicated to raising funds to delete digital poverty. Money will be used to purchase simple laptops for students to use at home for education purposes as well as help families finding themselves in financial crisis to gain internet access.
Students this year need our help more than ever. Let’s safeguard their future and delete digital poverty.
