Help Turn This Concrete Strip Into A Beautiful Self-Sustaining Garden On The Mesa For Neighbors To Gather!
The Mesa Paper’s Editor-In-Chief, Alice San Andres-Calleja, has been gardening and weeding the island with her own two hands for the past twelve years. Because Alice is truly the wind beneath all of our wings (OMNI, Mesa Architects, Mesa Business Association & and many more) in creating our Mesa neighborhood to be such a great place to live, study, work, and hang out in, we would like to officially honor her. One of Alice’s dreams is to beautify the island so that all can enjoy our little slice of heaven. Although, Mesa neighbors already affectionately call the strip Alice Island (Ellis Island), we would like to help turn Alice’s dream into a reality beautifying the corner to the delight of everybody.
Our Mesa Neighborhood has a permit from the City of Santa Barbara to remove the asphalt and install beautiful drought-tolerant plants and boulders to this public property. The new improvements will not only beautify this strip, but will also act as a storm-water management feature and a symbol of the renaissance of the Mesa.
OMNI, Mesa Architects, and Mesa Business Association together are working their magic, but we need your help to raise the funds - $35,000 – yikes. We got this!
DONATIONS:
Those who donate $1,000 or more will have their name in perpetuity on a plaque in the Island’s Garden.
Donations of any amount are appreciated! Donate here or Mail a Check to:
