Support Herndon Swim Club New Pump Fund

Donation protected

The board of Herndon Swim Club  is so grateful to have made it though a very difficult summer given the changing social landscape as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. The decision to open this summer was not made lightly. Meticulous planning and outside consultation with experts in the field of COVID-19 mitigation were our first steps. We implemented new pool procedures and had to stay vigilant - the board held its breath all summer! But, with the help of our guards and volunteers, our summer season was AMAZING! Thanks to all of our members for their flexibility, patience, and adherence to our new rules. We are so grateful. We made it!!

After a short break, the Board is now looking towards next summer. Our biggest concern now is the pool pump. This workhorse of a pump has kept this pool going since the 80s and has filtered millions from of gallons of water but is finally done.  Thankfully, it kept the pool going during the ‘summer of Covid’, albeit with some duct tape and a belt to stabilize it (see above picture!).

We are once again looking to our beloved pool community for help with raising funds for this next big expense. Three estimates show that the cost will be in the $25k range for a new pump installed. Anything you can give will be gratefully received, however, if everyone donated $200, we will meet our goal! f you have other ideas or creative suggestions for raising funds, please let us know!

Background: Herndon Swim Club has served the Town of Herndon and surrounding areas since 1965. As it’s central mission, HCS has provided summer recreation, summer after summer, for 54 years.  The pool is run entirely by a board of volunteers committed to the betterment of our neighborhood and the welfare of our children. Unlike other community pools, membership is open to everyone! We also often open up our facilities to non-members for parties, water aerobics, swim lessons and more. While this is a distinct strength of HSC, it also means we do not receive any form of stable income from HOA fees. HSC relies primarily on membership dues to pay our employees, property taxes, and to finance the operation and ongoing maintenance of our pool.
