Passionate guitarist with MS

Hey there,

My name is Liz Owen, I've been a fingerstyle guitarist for about 18 years and I absolutely love performing, singing and above all else - playing guitar. I genuinely feel its the reason I've been put on this planet!

In October 2019 over the course of a day or two I lost most of the sensation and coordination in my entire right side which rendered me unable to walk or play guitar.
I went to hospital and had so many tests, MRI scans, CT scans, x-rays, spinal taps, echocardiograms - you name it!

I was diagnosed and medicated for a stroke, but very recently, little more than a year since I was hospitalised I've now got a new diagnosis. I've now got MS.

What I experienced a year ago wasn't a stroke but it was an "attack" or "relapse". With the nature of the disease, I have no idea if or when another attack will happen. I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm trying to stay positive but whenever I think about not being able to play my instrument again it fills me with terror. My guitar is what I immediately reach for whether I'm happy, sad or anything in between. I don't know what I'd do if that was no longer an option - I've already experienced it once and I certainly don't want to again.

Naturally, I feel like I'm against the clock. This may sound silly but I just want to get as much stuff recorded as possible. I've been wanting to get an album recorded with my wonderful band for such a long time but it's always been something of a challenge to save up for. Now the pressure is on to get into the studio and play my heart out ASAP in case my talent is just stripped from me forever.

I could totally be one of the lucky ones with MS, I may never have another attack again... But the thing that scares me most is that I had absolutely no symptoms before my first attack so I have no idea what to look out for. It could happen again tomorrow and I wouldn't be able to see it coming.

I'd be so grateful if you could contribute to my project. If my condition worsens and I can no longer play, it would be amazing for me to be able to listen to and share the music I was once able to create.

If you choose to donate, the money you give will go towards travel costs, rental of rehearsal spaces, studio time, mastering the album and physical production.

I will also give you a credit on the album inlay and on my website www.lizowenmusic.co.uk

Thank you so much for your time
