Fort Wayne, Ind., October 18, 2020 - A successful outreach organization in Fort Wayne, Indiana is expanding to connect with underserved Bay area neighborhoods and provide food to those in need that have been impacted by the Covid lockdowns. The Human Agricultural Cooperative has a goal of feeding 600 people with their initial project, planned for December 5. They will be distributing free food in three locations; Notting Hill area in San Jose, downtown San Francisco and in North Oakland.

The Human Agricultural Cooperative has partnered with East Palo Alto City Councilwoman Lisa Gauither, Hula Networks Inc., Glide Memorial Church, Essential Drivers in San Francisco, Telegraph Ministry Center as well as local restaurants to help serve those in need in the Bay area. The organizations will provide fresh vegetables, fruits, frozen meats and a complete BBQ dinner to residents that come to the three locations on December 5.

“Our goal is the make the Bay area stronger, by building long term relationships with sponsors, organizations and communities.” said Ty Simmons who is one of the organizers for the event. “This is a similar to projects that we are successfully implementing in Fort Wayne, where we were able to make a direct impact on our neighborhoods and provide relief to those suffering because of the economic conditions. I was asked by my friends and connections in the Bay area to do the same thing here. We are very excited to help out these communities.”

In the past 3 months alone the Human Agricultural Cooperative, with the help of several community partners has distributed over one million pounds of food to cities throughout Indiana. The organization’s focus has been on underserved neighborhoods and communities hardest hit by the economic lockdown.

While the organization is committed to provide needed items to 600 individuals, the need is much greater. The Human Agricultural Cooperative envisions serving a much bigger audience and is actively seeking donations to expand that outreach to other neighborhoods in San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland.
