Support for LGBTIQ Refugees in Tunisia

MAWJOUDIN- WE EXIST is an officially registered not-for-profit NGO that is based in Tunisia, and works towards achieving equality, human rights, bodily rights and sexual rights for the LGBTQI+ community and other marginalized groups and individuals.
Since 2019 we launched the LGBTIQ+ asylum project.
With Mawjoudin, we work on providing the support and assistance needed, for queer migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Tunisia. We work on facilitating their inclusion in Tunisia, by providing consultation and orientation services.
Most queer refugees live in precarious conditions and don’t have access to financial support. These situations got more complicated with the current covid-19 pandemic situation. During the first lockdown in Tunisia we were able to assist around 50 people with food vouchers, paying rent and medical assistance.
Unfortunately with the raise of covid-19 infection numbers and the raise of requests we find ourselves in a difficult situation where we can’t provide any financial assistance.
Besides the urgent needed assistance, we recieve many requests from queer refugees who would like to atttend some trainings or join certain activities but they don’t have the financial means to do so.
We start this donation campaign to raise funds to be able to provide direct financial support for LGBTIQ+ refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.
The money will be spent in the form of direct cash support and/or payments for rent, medical bills, training fee, equipment for training etc..
