Colorado Fire Relief for Livestock

Donation protected
I am the owner of Mutton Mowers LLC, a Colorado based goat grazing and goat rescue operation. Mutton Mowers has organized this relief fund and will oversee the distribution of funds in order to help all the four-legged kids, pasture puppies, wonky donkeys, ponies, cowzers, llama rammas, piglets, sheepers, and feathered friends affected by the Cameron Peak Fire and Cal-Wood Fire. We will work closely with emergency shelter locations in each county as well as individual families to assure needs are met. We have already been in touch with hay suppliers, who can transport and supply large quantities.

This fundraiser will directly support the families and livestock affected by the Cameron Peak and Cal-Wood Fires. The Cameron Peak fire ignited on August 13 and is now the largest fire in Colorado history at over 200,000 acres. The Cal-Wood fire is close to 9,000 acres and the larges fire in Boulder County history.
Thousands of people have been displaced and unprecedented numbers of livestock have been evacuated. The Larimer County Fairgrounds and Boulder County Fairgrounds are at capacity for evacuations and other counties are now opening their gates to help.

It gets cold in Colorado and winter is coming. We are in need of assistance with long term safe housing options for our four legged friends and the ability to feed them throughout the winter. It takes time to rebuild shelters, fences and hay reserves. All funds will go directly to purchasing feed and shelter for displaced livestock.

In general, it costs $120 annually for a goat, sheep or llama/alpaca, $800 annually for a cow or donkey and $1600 for a horse. Drought conditions throughout the state have led to local hay shortages. Now, with thousands of people and livestock displaced it is proving difficult to support the emergency shelters, temporary boarding facilities and private individuals taking in animals.

If we meet our fundraising goal hundreds of animals will be safe and take care of over the winter.  Your support could quite literally save the life of an animal this winter. As we look towards the future of these wonderful communities, we greatly appreciate any contribution you can make.
