Rest easy King. In Loving Memory of Matt Rice

Donation protected
It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that Matt Rice has transitioned to eternal life Friday morning (3/17/23). Our dear brother, husband, nephew, teammate, mentor and all-around great friend, bravely fought a long and hard battle against brain cancer. In the words of a close friend “The world lost a true creative genius and a beautiful soul.” Watching Matt go from a lively top-tier athlete/artist to a quiet wheel-chair dependent giant was hard to witness; but his character and sense of humor never faltered. In a recent gathering of friends his consistent character shown bright and true.

I would be remised if I did not mention the tireless care that Matt’s wife Annika gave to her husband. She not only cared for him through his many surgeries, clinical trials, deteriorating mobility/communication, and ultimately home hospice; but she did this while caring for their beautiful 2-year-old daughter, Nola. She has our deepest condolences as does Matt’s surviving brother and sister.

The 2 most important days in your life are the day that you are born and the day that you find out why (-Mark Twain). The blessing is that Matt found his purpose many years ago. His talent and passion for art transcended the canvas and permeated the soul. He has had a tremendous impact on the art community and his heart was even bigger. He was a known philanthropist who donated artwork to non-profit organizations as well as charities without wanting anything in return. Matt would give you the shirt off his back and was always ready to help and support family and friends. Now he needs our help and support.

We are reaching out to ask you to donate today to help reduce the family’s financial burden. 100% of the proceeds raised will go to Matt’s wife and daughter to help offset funeral costs and support ongoing living costs and expenses (i.e. child care, food, diapers and rent). Becoming a single parent with a single income in addition to mourning a husband/best friend is extremely difficult and overwhelming. This is our time to lift Matt’s family up in prayer, with warm thoughts, and financial support.
Every little bit helps. With your financial support you can help remove a large financial burden from Matt's family and allow them to focus on the healing process and the long road ahead.

We THANK ALL OF YOU! Please share this with all your friends and family. Please use #MateoBlu in all your social media posts.
