MSA Strong

Hi!

I'm Heather. I grew up in the small town of Hopewell and have been here my entire life.  I also grew up in gymnastics. You can call me a gym rat.  Not to get into my life history, I did gymnastics and dance for a long time.  And yes, I have PTSD from my sport.  After an injury, I was forced to retire.  While doing rehab for my injury, I decided that I wanted to coach gymnastics to change the sport. Mind you this was 24 years ago. It's taken me awhile to find my style, but my mission hasn't changed. I want to show that it doesn't matter what level athletes they can develop through progressions, compassion, and humane treatment. It does take longer.  It is important to me that all of my students and their families feel at home in my gym. Because as a family, we can work together through anything to get to where we want to go. We are stronger together. I am so proud of the individuals my former students have become and I hope to help so many more find their dreams. Even if it is just to have fun in a gym. There is no wrong dream.

Motion Sports Academy (MSA) is my baby. It is a small local gymnastics school with the idea of helping children have a solid foundation in gymnastics. My mission is to help children not only become strong in sport but also grow as an individual. We train not just the sport, but strive to develop self-confidence, compassion, and joy.

It is a small gym. It is myself, and three young ladies that help me with classes and team. We do it all. The cleaning, the website, social media, billing, and teaching. During COVID-19, we want to make sure that our students are safe and healthy.  This is difficult because it is a scary time.

The first part of this fundraiser is to help us raise money to buy air scrubbers and be able to afford a cleaning service every day. The money will also be used to keep up with the masks, gloves, alcohol, and hand sanitizer to meet the demands of these trying times.

The second part of this fundraiser is to help replace equipment that has been damaged from all of the sanitizing products. We would like to replace our uneven bars, high bar, parallel bars, the foam of our rod floor, a trampoline bed, and parts of our floor.

The last part is trying to come up with funds to pay the rent we could not pay during lock down. Our goal is to be able to stay at our current facility.

If you would prefer to send a gift you can find our wish list here: https://www.wishlist.com/msastrong

We know this is a trying time, but if you can spare anything to help us survive this rough time it is greatly appreciated.
