Shiloh Community Association Resource Center

Help raise funds for The Shiloh Community Association to open a SCA Community Resource Center in the neighborhood as we celebrate our 23rd year this past October! The funds raised here will go towards a resources center, with office space for the SCA , residential business incubation, classroom and community meeting space, a certified kitchen and more resources for neighborhood. This has been a goal of the SCA since the writing of the 2025 plan back in 2010.

The Shiloh Community is one of the oldest and most historic African American community in Asheville, NC. Our history dates the land that is now the Biltmore Estate in 1870 before Vanderbilt bought the land and moved the community to where we are today in the 1880’s.

The Shiloh Community Association was established October 3, 2000 by a group of concerned community residents to address ongoing challenges for the Shiloh Community. The Association brought community members together to identify issues, develop solutions and implement positive changes to improve the quality of life for residents. Much of the success of this organization has come from our partners, grants, volunteers and all volunteer Board of 20 years.
We are a 501c3 Organization. The Shiloh Community Association has sponsored many activities and projects to increase the wellbeing of the residents and received many awards.

Some of our accomplishments are:

-Shiloh Community Garden with Youth Educational Programs and healthy food access initiatives
-Building a Garden Pavilion with a City of Asheville Outside Agency Grant Program in partnership with AB-Tech, and partnering with Tupelo Honey Café to build an amphitheater and pizza oven on the Shiloh Garden Property.
- Creating the Shiloh Legacy Art Trail and Community Orchard using land donated by Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity along the Little Branch Stream
-Creating the Shiloh 2025 Plan, which was adopted by Asheville City Council September 14, 2010, to protect the neighborhood from the encroachment of commercial businesses from Highway 25, and to give the residents a say in construction projects happening in the neighborhood.
-Raising $1000 for an Annual Scholarship given to one students from the Shiloh neighborhood who is graduating from Highschool and going to college
-Sponsor 7 free Community events each year, including Shiloh History Day, Storytelling Day, Black History Month Celebration, National Night Out, July Celebration and more.
-Building a unique bus stop for the Neighborhood
-Designing a Historic Shiloh Flag
-Publishing A Shiloh Community Association Cookbook, with traditional recipes collected from neighborhood residents
-Designing and Producing SCA t-shirts to raise funds for Community Projects
