Loving The Bronx - Feeding The Bronx

Loving The Bronx is a community based not for profit in the Bronx.
We are dedicated to community development through organizing around social and injustice issues using parks and open spaces throughout the borough as our points of engagement.
In response to the community's need during the pandemic, our work shifted from park programming to food distribution. Without a budget we were able to mobilize volunteers who assisted in distributing over 30,000 boxes of dry food, nearly 4000 fresh produce boxes and over 4000 prepared meals.
In September, to address this issue of food insecurity on a local level, we posted on social media that we were looking to start a community refrigerator near the Parkchester area of the Bronx. Within a few hours, a Bronx business, Brewski's Bar and Grill, reached out to us. They purchased a brand new double glass door commercial refrigerator! We teamed up with another Bronx business, Circle Green Farms (deli/grocery) in Parkchester, who graciously serves as a host site for the community refrigerator!
Anyone can come in, and take what they need, we just ask that you be mindful that there are others in need.
It is accessible 7 am - 7 pm, 7 days a week (80 Hugh Grant Circle, Bronx New York).
We are looking to raise $6,000.00 to cover the expenses of restocking the refrigerator twice a week through the end of 2020.
Though we have been doing amazing work throughout the Bronx since 2012, we recently incorporated, and do not have tax exemption status yet.
