Chris Smith - TeamGB Runner
Chris, an experienced fell/mountain runner set out to navigate the Invervar Munros at 3pm on Tuesday 27th October; which incorporates 4 peaks (Meall nan Aighean, Carn Mairg, Meall Garbh and Carn Gorm). A route which totals around 11 miles and 1450m of ascent was predicted to take approximately 2 hours based upon his previous background and experience. Devastatingly, Chris lost his life on this run and was found on Thursday 29th October near to Carn Mairg. He will be missed by so many, especially his wife and two children, and we will always treasure the precious memories we have of him.
Chris’s friends and family are so grateful to the Scottish Mountain Rescue team, the emergency services, the local community in Glen Lyon and the family, friends and fellow runners who helped search for him.
Scottish Mountain Rescue is made up of 850 volunteers who respond in a moment’s notice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to provide assistance to people in the outdoors...at an average cost of £2500 per rescue.
Mountain Rescue Teams and their volunteers couldn’t do what they do without support from people like you. The teams are all volunteers, however funding is required to support the running of Scottish Mountain Rescue, so that they can help the teams offer the best possible rescue service to all who need them, and provide the teams with their training, insurance and equipment they need.
I am asking for your help in providing any funds you can to assist in the rescue, all donations are very much appreciated!
All proceeds will be directly donated to Scottish Mountain Rescue, with a screenshot of all money raised as proof.
