Beauty Arts Academy of Diversity (safe space)

Hi my name is Mama Zee, but some of you may know me as Zahara (my government name). I am here not to just tell you my story but to share with you my passion, my dream and purpose here on Earth; in hopes to have your kindness, love, compassion, understanding and support in this mission I have called B.A.A.D. (I will get back to what B.A.A.D. is and what it stands for).

First of all, who am I? I am BLACK, I am TRANS/QUEER , I have a DISABILITY & I am a WOMAN; all of the finest ingredients to make me apart of the selected communities that majority of society mostly ostracises, victimises, penalises, discriminates, sexualises, objectifies and fears. Throughout my life, I have experienced mental, physical and sexual abuse from others partly because I did not understanding my worth or who I am, I have never felt like there is a safe space for me to be me and blossom (and I am sure some of you can relate). Since I have started DHOPnails I can say that every person that has visited me, to get their phalanges elevated, has blessed me with love, kindness, strength and the motivation to set aside my selfish goals in transitioning and focus more on a selfless target and a bigger picture, which is to create and open the doors of freedom, wider for my trans/queer siblings and especially POC here in the U.K.

Now, this leads me to explain the project that I am asking for your support on, which is B.A.A.D. that Stands for Beauty Arts Academy of Diversity. I would like to create a safe space for the queer community to have the equal opportunities of education and self development without feeling uncomfortable or threatened, also this would be an opportunity for communities outside of the queer community to actually interact, support and educate themselves about the queer community so we can start making this world a safer place for all of us.

What will B.A.A.D. Provide?

1. education with in beauty, business, arts and key skills, giving the tools and skills needed to fight unemployment and homelessness.
2. A safe space for the queer community to actually feel relaxed and happy to have beauty treatments, feeling supported with their transition/personal journey.
3. A safe space for members of non queer communities and companies to have the opportunity to be educated, develop awareness and interact with the queer community first hand.
4. Resources for social development in the arts and other.
5. Providing stable, safe jobs for members of the queer community.

How would the funds be used?

1. To secure a premises for permanent occupancy.
2. To refurb and decorate if needed, to be a welcoming and functional safe space meeting H&S standards.
3. Teaching equipment and furniture.
Wages for staff (mainly members of the queer community)

I will be seeking funding from all avenues to make this happen (government, grants, etc) so what you can contribute would be highly appreciated, but if you have any referrals, recommendations, ideas, connections, donations (can be your time or skills), links...... ANYTHING please feel free to drop me a message.

Thank you for your time in reading this “pitch” and if you would like an opportunity to meet me in person or on zoom to feel my energy, ask questions or even just need a hug or a little giggle, mama’s arms are open.

Peace & Love
