A Luta Continua Dialogues
We are the creative production team for our international dialogue series, A Luta Continua Dialogues: The Struggle Continues. We are developing an international web series centering Black activists, community workers, and thought leaders across the diaspora together in conversation. Through robust dialogue, we plan to integrate our different identities in a space that explores our interconnected realities as people working for liberation and empowerment.
We are requesting funding to help us cultivate the community of powerful activists, artists and thinkers we are connecting with. We are Black students, workers, and artists working across two nations and three timezones to pour our energy and passion into this project. Although we have built a strong, generative foundation, our financial position has limited our capacity to fully bring our collective vision into fruition.
In its own way, A Luta feels like a conversation at the kitchen table. While our guests hail from all over the globe, A Luta, at its core, is a virtual landscape for the practice of diasporic mutual study. Young people are at the forefront of movements all around the world, and our visions for change begin with the understanding that our futures are intertwined. These dialogues are intended to be a space in which our creative energy, scholarship, and affinity for action, blend together to explore our shared imaginaries. We are so honored to participate in this world-building project, and we are am hopeful for the journey that lies before us. See below for more details on the structure of our series.
In order to expand this important work, we request funding to support our technical needs and streaming data for 6 episodes, to fund our executive producers’ research, travel expenses and expertise, to purchase internet data for dialogue participants based in South Africa who face loadshedding*, to support our official show host’s expertise, to fund our brand design, and to support our social media outreach.
