We got them sneakers now let’s give them a chance to be leaders!
As upcoming entrepreneur students at the University of North Texas, our social entrepreneurship course has assigned us to partner with a community nonprofit organization to help solve a social issue. We are partnering with Pasos for Oak Cliff to launch their second program. Pasos is setting in motion an education assistance program focused to aid senior high school students continuing their educational journey into college. With ambition, dedication, and desire to forge a better life, Pasos is stepping to help young adults in the Oak Cliff neighborhood near Downtown Dallas. All donations will allow students to pay for tuition, books, and supplies as they enter college. We hope to help them raise the remaining $1,000 in funds to reach their goal by December 11th.
Pasos is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in the summer of 2020 by two community members and sneaker heads. The founders Jesse Acosta and Alejandra Zendejas are both in educational roles. They have seen current students wearing old and distressed sneakers which brought attention to a larger problem within the community. Families in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas are faced with financial hardships, lack of funds, and need assistance. The two founders are determined to help the community and shine light on low income households/minority communities in need. Pasos has now launched two successful fundraisers providing 150 low income students a new pair of sneakers. Below are links that highlight the journey and impact the organization has made to the community. We are excited to help Pasos kick off their scholarship program to continue to give back and provide students financial assistance to succeed.
Thank you in advance for contributing! We ask if you are unable to make a small donation, please share Pasos story with your family and friends.
