BlkArthouse Artist Fund

BlkArthouse is dedicated to promoting and selling art by emerging Black artists.  We are raising money to help support our artists this holiday season and develop our organization in a manner that maximizes our social impact.

Who We Are
We are a social enterprise organization focused on bringing Black artists to the forefront. BlkArthouse provides a central location for art lovers to find art by a network of talented Black artists and for Black artists to reach a broader audience. We also assist our featured artists by hosting bi-weekly educational seminars and connecting them with various opportunities.

Why BlkArthouse Matters
Black artists still face racial barriers in developing their careers and obtaining economic opportunity. Despite institutional pushes for diversity, and our society's appreciation of Black culture, art by Black artists at major art museums only constitute 1.2% of the collections. Women of color, specifically, make up just 1% of all the artists in major collections despite constituting 20% of the U.S. population. To provide opportunities and raise the profiles of talented black artists, it is crucial that Black artists are exposed to broader audiences.

After George Floyd was murdered by a police officer in broad daylight, droves of people started actively searching for ways to uplift and invest in Black businesses. Notably, more people were interested in Black art, and justifiably so. Art is powerful because it reflects our culture, politics, and values, and an investment in Black art, specifically, demonstrates an ongoing commitment to a true multicultural society. Nonetheless, while more platforms began promoting Black artists, none provided a central space dedicated solely to investing in Black creativity and development. BlkArthouse intends to change that.

Why Your Donation is Important to Us
75% of funds will go directly to the supported artists.
Your donation will help our artists prepare for the upcoming holiday season, including assistance with the following specific items for each artist:
- Malcolm Xavier: art supplies for new artwork
- Diane Britton Dunham: a new easel for her studio
- Abi Salami: marketing for new artwork
- Onnissia: publication of her poems on print and capital to fund her new online print store
- Kellem Monteiro: a new camera
- Von Deon: marketing for new artwork and creative merchandise

The remainder of donations will be used to support BlkArthouse as an organization. In particular, we will use your donation to help with the promotion and marketing of our artists and paying volunteers for their assistance in the growth and development of BlkArthouse. Currently, BlkArthouse is hoping to make our current platform more accessible for a greater amount of Black artists to display their work. As a result, you will be connected to a larger supply of art by Black artists!

No donation is too small!

We are so grateful for the outpouring of support we have received as an organization. We thank you all so much for your donations in order for us to continue our work and support our artists. Even if you can't donate, we would greatly appreciate you sharing our fundraiser so we can reach our goal!

Thank you again, and happy holidays!
