Shape Our Highway 291 Community

Residents of the Sundance golf course and surrounding neighborhoods are concerned about the development proposed by Preliminary Plat of Sundance Meadows to divide 88.44 acres into 475 lots for single family residences in the Low Density Residential (LDR) zone.  Furthermore, the application/permit process for this development has grown convoluted and segmented to say the least.  Concerned residents in the greater 9 Mile community are asking for fair process and accountability to create smart growth and for environmental concerns to be fairly addressed.  And not by experts hired by the developer that may have financial obligations to rule in favor of the developer and not based on ethical outcomes.

Currently, a permit had been approved to grade the entire property and harvest every tree in preparation for future development.  We feel concerns addressing the impact on wet lands, wildlife, sewer, traffic, proximity to the river; traffic and the Lakeside School District have not been fairly addressed.  Years of chemical use on the golf course has also led to speculation of dangerous levels of toxic metals (Arsenic) that may be disturbed to all local neighborhoods.  A traffic study was conducted and concluded the impact of this development and the surprising amount of traffic not previously accounted for with the 7 mile road development would create several roundabouts to include 7 mile & 291, Driscoll, Alberta and possibly Suncrest at the High School.

We are asking for the 9 Mile community to step up and help support a fair and equitable process that is transparent.  We have been in consultation with an established and respected attorney that believes we have a valid and fac based concern to this onesided process.

Concerned citizens are prepared to move forward with anticipated legal fees. It is our intent that the rest of the 9 Mile area will join us in protecting our community from predatory developers and demanding transparency in county government.   This fight is about all of the 9 Mile community and we need your help in reaching our goal of raising $20,000.  This proposed development will affect all of us.  Our traffic, our schools, our land use, our quality of life for everyone will be touched.

Our mission is to advocate for the voices of our community by seeking intentional, sustainable growth for our existing and future members, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines, and protecting the health and well-being of our people and natural resources.
