1st Nailsea Scouts Climbing Wall

Tax deductible
We are excited to be fundraising to build a fully functional indoor climbing wall inside our Scout HQ!

We love seeing the difference that adventurous activities makes in the lives of the youth. At 1st Nailsea Scout Group  we believe in preparing young people with skills for life.

Our aim is to raise £10,000 total and we have lots of exciting fundraising planned ahead as well as applying for a range of local and national grants.
We all appreciate your support for our project.

We have designed the wall to promote engagement, progressions and skill development for all users, regardless of their age, ability or experience.

All age groups, from Beavers at 6 to Explorers at 18, will be able to take part in sessions to work towards Scout badges and training for qualifications.

The climbing wall will enable us as volunteer leaders to teach the young people in both our Scout Group and other Groups in North Somerset & further afield.

All together 1st Nailsea Scout Group includes approximately 150 young people and 22 adult volunteers from Nailsea and surrounding areas. This is made up of 2 Beaver Colonies (age 6-8), 3 Cub Packs (age 8-10.5) and 2 Scout Troops (age 10.5-14). We also have an Explorer Unit (age 14-18) affiliated with the group.

Why Support Adventurous Activities?
The skills and activities in Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Through adventurous activities  young people learn resilience, teamwork, communication and leadership skills that will be carried through into later life. Through trying, failing and succeeding, along with their peers, they learn how to encourage, persevere and achieve their goals, and celebrate in their peers achieving theirs.
These personal skills can be used in all walks of life, and lead to amazing young people, who make a positive impact on society.

Why Support 1st Nailsea Scouts?
Scouting is proven to be a positive activity for young people and adults to take part in. During the lockdown period section leaders have been running online sessions and received many messages from parents and families of young people about how the Scout sessions have been a highlight of their week. Having a positive outlet to focus on over this time has been very important for both young people and leaders. Scouting is an important part of Nailsea’s community and this has been proven over the challenging last few months where 95% of the young people in 1st Nailsea have taken part in some form of Scouting!
