Friends of IPAC Snowcial Distancing Fundraiser

Welcome to the 2020/2021 Friends of Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center Snowcial Distance Fundraiser!!!
This is a year like no other.. For the first time ever, Friends of Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center has had to cancel our annual movie nights and Fall fundraising events! To keep our community safe and fill the gaps in funding we've moved our biggest annual fundraiser online this year. We hope you will consider supporting us again this Fall, and we look forward to seeing you in person soon!"

These funds provide:

-Two Advisories a week – which outlines weather forecasts, detailed snowpack analysis, and danger ratings for 6 mountain ranges of North Idaho and Western Montana.

-Incident Reports – detailed accounts of avalanche incidents and fatalities which provide in depth research to understand each case specifics.

-Forecaster support - by providing forecasters with the tools and snow machines they need in the field to safely perform their duties.

-Community education - outreach and avalanche awareness to local K-12 schools, snowmobile clubs, mountaineers groups.

-Live Weather Data – to help you plan your backcountry mission.

-Photos and Videos – outlining field observations from our advisory areas exposing in-the-moment conditions from our forecasters as well as volunteers.

Last winter, we coordinated and staffed 12 days of classes and field sessions for 79 participants, 5 Snow Pit Chats presenting to 200 ski/splitboard and snowmobile users. With various ages from youth to adults. FoIPAC teams ran booths at ski/snowboard & snowmobile events that reached a multitude of current to future users of backcountry terrain.

Our commitment to providing all of this to you does not change during this pandemic, but it does change how we fund it as we are unable to have fundraising movie nights to gather this great backcountry community.

Friends of Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center relies heavily on the user public and sponsors to support education, clinics and equipment needed for forecasters and trainers to perform these functions as well as accessing the vast terrain of North Idaho and Wester Montana.

Please consider donating so we can continue our work and be an essential part of your winter mornings, and thank you for your help in ensuring this outreach continues!
