Salviamo Klainguti

Grazie a tutti!

The Coronavirus, the health emergency and the consequent greatly reduced profits take away the Klainguti pastry bar, which closes its doors after almost 200 yearsof sweets, coffee and delicacies.

Located in central Piazza Soziglia, the shop was opened almost by chance in 1828 by the four Klainguti brothers, Swiss confectioners from Pontresina, who came to Genoa to embark for America in search of fortune. For some reason, the trip is postponed and the brothers begin to practice the art of pastry making in this shop which until now was owned by the Ubaldi family. Seeing the shutters lowered is like losing a piece of childhood for someone like me who grew up in the historic center in the 80s, but it is also losing the opportunity to drink the best coffee in town.

In Genoa, Klainguti is much more than a pastry bar, it is a historic shop in the center. Help us reach the required quota to cover the expenses and monthly salary for the eight employees and to raise the shutters of Klainguti. Let's make sure that another piece of the historic center of Genoa does not close, where pastry, coffee, culture, but also and above all neighborhood life have been intertwined for 200 years! Let's help the employees and the owners reopen for Christmas. If we won't reach our goal before the Christmas holidays all donations will be refunded. Thank you all!
