Black Doula Training 11.11

My name is Jalissa Brown, I currently am finishing my degree online at Kent State University with a major in Pan-African Studies. Despite this pandemic, I've discovered one of many things I want to do within this lifetime: Become a Doula. As a Pan-African major one of the reasons I decided to pursue this degree was to help the black community. Some of my discipline and research of choice has been on pregnant Black women and their mistreatment from the medical professionals. As 2020 came with many arrivals, my nephew happened to be one of them. The decision to become a doula was upon further reflection following the amount of joy and purpose I felt being an advocate for my sister and nephew while in the hospital. It was realizing not many, especially black women, have a TRUE advocate for them before, during and after the birthing process. It was reflecting own my personal trauma with improper diagnosis that led me into emergency surgery months later, sometimes I think if only I had an advocate or knew how to be an advocate for myself at that time.

By donating or simply sharing you are able to help me enroll in an Black Doula Training course by Sumi's Touch. The course costs a total of $1,150 although I am only asking for coverage about 96% with $1,111. You can find the link below if you're further interested in reading more about the course.
