TSB Chalamet Birthday Fundraiser 2020

In honor of actor Timothée Chalamet's 25th birthday on December 27th, the fans of Club Chalamet (CC) established this fundraiser to benefit Timothée's favorite bagel store in NYC, Tompkins Square Bagels (TSB). The Covid-19 pandemic has had an effect on business, but their reputation for making incredibly delicious bagels has allowed them to tough it out. Earlier in the pandemic, TSB donated food to the hard-working healthcare front line workers during the height of the devastating public health crisis in NYC, while slim profits were being eaten away by the fees charged for the needed usage of third-party food delivery apps.

While maintaining a positive attitude and having a hard-working crew at two locations (Ave. A and 2nd Ave), Tompkins toughed it out during the most challenging times in the city while many customers stayed away due to lockdowns. However, by summer, the business started to pick up and Timmy popped in a few times to order his favorite bagels. This fun sighting was shared via Twitter to CC, but unfortunately, the business was soon harassed by a vocal mob of fans who were not happy with them sharing this information. I particularly felt bad about that as it embarrassed me that fellow fans would react so negatively to such innocent news of a famous customer visiting his favorite bagel store (I myself had the privilege to enjoy twice during my visit to NYC in 2019). However, the business continued to improve for the remainder of this past summer, until the 2nd Ave store was robbed during the evening of October 30th while the store was closed. https://www.instagram.com/p/CHAlAPGjbM5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link 

The glass door of the entrance was completely shattered, glass everywhere, and thieves stole the register full of cash. The store could not open for several hours, due to the cleanup. Earnings lost during this closure on top of the money in the stolen cash register, and the unexpected expense of the burglary during these trying times is tragic and upsetting.

The members of Club Chalamet would like to raise money in support of TSB for Timothée's 25th birthday and to help offset the cost of this vandalism and theft. Please join us in donating whatever you can to help a small local business that gives 110% to its loyal customers and its dedicated staff of workers.
