Woman Run Small Business Financial Aid

Rosie’s Confections is a small women owned and run business located in St. Albans, Vermont. We create ethical artisan confections that exist purely to indulge in self-care. We aim to share our love for sustainable health-promoting products, open your eyes on the marvels of chocolate, and inspire you to use your purchasing power to advocate for a better world.

Rosie’s Confections was born in early 2020. From day one, we have advocated sustainability, healthy eating, and ethical business practices. We refuse to cut corners to increase our profits.

Currently, we have two web stores available on our website:

- The confections: artisan chocolates and candies. They are made from ethically sourced ingredients in a loving environment that follows strict sanitary guidance.

- The CBD infused products: We source pure hemp-derived CBD extracts from our partners at X-Tract Vermont and offer the following products:

          - CBD infused confections
          - Chocolate flavored CBD lip balm
          - CBD dog treats

COVID-19 has taken a toll on a lot of small businesses. Although we had the chance to participate in Vermont’s farmers market, the pandemic and now winter is forcing us to focus our marketing efforts online. We are in the process of establishing a strong virtual presence, but it’s been challenging to grow this way.

We have also sparked up conversations with local stores and retailers to hopefully have a few locations carry our products. Store owners are understandably skeptical about adding new products to their shelves, and many small businesses like us struggle to find beneficial wholesale opportunities.

We are asking for all of the support we can get with the help of Gofundme and the #SmallBusinessRelief fund.

With the funds that we raise, we will be able to commit to our values, one of them being fair wages for every part of the supply chain. From our farmers, to our employees.

We would also like to be able to take a step further in our promise for sustainability by upgrading to eco-friendly packaging!

Your donation to our GoFundMe campaign will not only help us get through the pandemic but give us support to grow in the future. Any kind of help is greatly appreciated.

Please share our efforts with your friends and family to help increase our reach.

Because we don’t know how long this will last or if we will get support elsewhere, we are setting our initial goal to $5,000.

The chocolate and cannabis industries are intricate. Both suffer from a lack of ethical and sustainable management often overlooked by profit hungry businesses.

The industrial chocolate industry is negatively impacting the environment and subjecting farmers to horrible conditions amounting to slavery and child labor. The expected low price and ever increasing demand exacerbate the situation. Theobroma cacao (aka Food of the Gods) is a valuable crop with a rich history. It has so much to offer, yet it is taken for granted. There is a great disparity between high quality chocolate and its mass produced opponent often filled with unhealthy additives.

CBD, the non-psychoactive component of cannabis, is a growing trend. The many benefits that come from its consumption are the source of its success. Yet, CBD is still wildly misunderstood. The regulations around it change incessantly. Plenty of companies claim to have the best CBD products. The consumers are overwhelmed with information. It is harder than ever to find the best fit.

Rosie’s Confections seeks to offer an honest and valuable product that aims at adding spice to your life. A piece of guilt-free indulgence that counts as self-care. Remind you to care about yourselselves, others, and the planet.

Our story

Paul Rose was our founder, Emma Rose’s father and mentor. Together they ventured into the cannabis industry back in 2018, with the desire to be part of the amazing revolution that was taking place, de-stigmatizing the incredible healing plant; cannabis. When Paul was suffering from cancer, CBD had an appeasing effect on his condition. During their business venture, Paul instilled in Emma the drive and knowledge to start her own entrepreneurial journey with a solid mindset. Through the many obstacles they faced building their business, Paul did not give up on his dream for a single day. He was a force of nature, always willing to inspire and empower the ones around him.

The Rose family lost Paul to cancer in December 2019.

The Rose family has a rich & dynamic history of entrepreneurship, art, hard-work, and a deep-rooted passion for learning and growth. To honour Paul’s memory, they embarked on a journey to realize his dream of building an amazing family-run CBD business.

Three generations of badass women make up the framework of Rosie’s Confections. They are coming together and building a company based on the wisdom of the past, and a vision for a better future.

Emma Rose has cultivated a life-long passion for the culinary arts. Having lived in Vermont for most of her life, she deeply values healthy eating and sustainability. She sees a great need for more quality in the food industry, as too often products are filled with additives and preservatives that should not be put in your body.

Rosie’s Confections was born in early 2020 as a small CBD edibles company making high end infused products.

Cannabis has been widely misunderstood and criminalized, but we have seen it improve the lives of many people we care about. With the world slowly moving in a good direction and legalizing this plant in many places, we seek to be a part of the solution that establishes a healthy industry and makes the world a better place.

Rosie’s Confections started amidst the current COVID-19 crisis. There are no guidelines, no textbook, that teaches how to start a business during a global pandemic. It has been a turbulent journey, but Rosie’s team is passionate about its work and it shows. Through the chaos, we have been able to reflect on the things that truly matter. Beauty on earth. Compassion for a friend. Love for the planet. Change for a better future. Care for the self. As a result of hard work the team managed to successfully launch the company.

Slowly, the business took on a life of its own. Rosie’s has gravitated into a company rich in values. Some were our founder’s from the start, others developed while growing.

Rosie’s Confection is the outcome of a strong desire to create a guilt-free indulgence, an intention for creative, artisan confections, and a deep-rooted love for the use of cannabis and its connection to the human body.

We have learned a great deal while adapting to our new reality, and we are all stronger for it. Delayed lead times, cancelled opportunities and countless zoom meetings have been incredibly challenging, but we are making the best of the situation and pushing through. The safety of our staff and customers is our top priority, so taking the appropriate measures has been our number one focus.

Recently, we have realigned our business to focus on high end artisanal chocolates and candies made using wholesome ingredients and social responsibility. We decided to reorient ourselves in order to magnify our ability to grow and have a significant impact on both the chocolate and cannabis industry. We aspire to lead the way by example and promote a sustainable and honest framework.

Our small scale model allows us to put a lot of love and care into every bite of sweetness created in our kitchen, ensuring that only the highest quality products go out to our customers. Any time you walk into the workshop, you can find Emma whipping up new recipes in the kitchen or brainstorming her next idea. Her attention to detail and her artistic eye really make her confections something special.

We're located in Vermont, a wonderful place to build relationships with other small producers and companies. We source local foods as much as possible, which reflects mostly with all the dairy and maple products we use in our confections. When we cannot buy local food, we make sure that the source is sustainable and ethical, prioritizing direct-trade practices.

So far, we loved the process and hope to be able to keep going. We want to attain our goal of having a significant impact by setting high standards in our related industries; but right now, we need you.

This campaign is managed by Rosie’s founder, Emma Rose. The funds will be withdrawn and put directly into the business’ bank account. (This will be done every $1000)

Thank you.
