Miranda's Hope

Michelle Gonzales was a 19 year old Beauty School student when she came to work at my salon, Tippy Toes, in Mazatlan, Mexico. Michelle lived with her brother and was excited about working in the beauty industry. She knew there were more opportunities available to her in Mazatlan than in her small village. Michelle was a shining star at the salon with her bubbly personality. She was working at Tippy Toes for over a year when she discovered she was pregnant and soon afterwards her brother left Mazatlan for a new job. Michelle was afraid she could not afford to live in Mazatlan, so she returned to the fishing village to live with her parents and await the birth of her child.

Eight months later, Michelle and her family made the 1 ½ hour journey to Mazatlan to deliver the baby as Mazatlan was the closest proper hospital. All this is happening as Covid is just starting to explode in Mexico. Shortly after the baby was born, the doctors realized something was wrong with the infant. Baby Miranda was born with a deformed intestinal tract, and surgery was performed on the newborn when she was just four days old. A few months later with the baby becoming increasingly ill they rushed her back to Mazatlan. She was diagnosed with Peritonitis, which is often a life-threatening infection caused by a leakage in her intestines and a burst appendix. She underwent another surgery. Now less than four months old, the baby has a colostomy bag and is given days to live. Despite all these obstacles, and to the dismay of her doctors, baby Miranda survived.

With mounting medical bills Miranda has another surgery looming to repair her intestines and remove her colostomy bag. My heart broke when I saw a Facebook post of Michelle trying to raise money by collecting plastic bottles. I can't imagine how it must feel being a young single mother fighting for your child's life, worrying about Covid and money- all at the same time. With the holidays fast approaching, won't you please reach into your heart and help to provide for this struggling single mom and her daughter.  Baby Miranda is not 'out of the woods' yet and requires special care, medications, and costly formula. Infection at the colostomy site and the risk of Covid looms large for little Miranda.
Please help me, help them.

Thank you in advance for your generous contribution.
